CHAPTER 6 — The Man Everyone Trusted

The next morning...
America woke to shocking news.
Television channels celebrated billionaire Richard Calloway.
Business magazines called him...
"The Kindest Man in New York."
Weston turned off the television.
His jaw tightened.
The smiling philanthropist on the screen...
was the same man from the massacre video.
The same man who ordered children murdered.
The same man hunting Holly.
That afternoon...
A convoy of luxury vehicles stopped outside the Hargrove estate.
Richard Calloway himself stepped out.
Silver hair.
Perfect smile.
Tailored navy suit.
He carried a gift box.
Not a gun.
Not a threat.
A birthday present for Mary.
He smiled warmly as Weston greeted him.
"I heard your daughter likes horses."
Weston forced a smile.
"She does."
Richard looked around casually.
Then...
his eyes stopped on Holly.
For less than one second...
his smile disappeared.
Only Holly noticed.
Only Holly saw the recognition.
Richard recovered instantly.
"And who is this young lady?"
"Our nanny," Weston answered.
Richard walked closer.
Extended his hand.
Holly looked at it.
She didn't move.
For a long moment...
neither of them blinked.
Then Richard smiled again.
"We've never met..."
Holly finally shook his hand.
"No."
"But someday..."
her voice remained perfectly calm,
"...we'll remember each other."
Richard laughed politely.
Everyone else laughed with him.
Only Weston noticed something horrifying.
Richard's thumb quietly traced a small scar on Holly's wrist...
the exact scar visible in the massacre video from six years earlier.
He knew.
He had recognized her.
And Holly had just confirmed she recognized him too.
The war neither of them had spoken about...
had officially begun.
As Richard's convoy disappeared through the front gates...
Weston's encrypted phone vibrated.
One message.
No sender.
Only seven chilling words:
Protect Holly... or bury your daughter next.
Weston slowly looked toward the mansion where Holly and Mary were laughing together beside Midnight.
For the first time in his life...
the most feared mafia boss on the East Coast realized he wasn't fighting for his empire anymore.
May you like
He was fighting for his family.
