Chapter 10 - Under the Same StarsLater that night, far above the glittering lights of the city, away from the clinics, the corporate boardrooms, and the media spotlights, the penthouse rooftop was quiet.

Julian had set up a professional high-powered telescope near the glass railing.

Emily stood on a small wooden step-stool, peering through the lens with one eye closed, gasping softly.

"Julian! Look! I see Saturn! It has a ring like a golden crown!"

Julian chuckled, stepping up behind her and steadying the tripod. "It sure does, astronomer Emily."

Emily stepped down from the stool, turned around, and wrapped her small arms tightly around Julian’s waist, burying her face in his suit jacket. Julian wrapped his strong arms around her, lifting her up easily against his chest.

"Do you think my mama sees us right now?" Emily whispered softly, looking up into the vast, beautiful expanse of the night sky where countless stars twinkled like scattered diamonds.

Julian looked up too, his gray eyes catching the reflection of the cosmos. He thought of Clara’s letter, of the cold marble lobby where their lives had collided, and of the heavy, dark emptiness that had defined his existence for decades—an emptiness that was now completely, perfectly gone.

"I know she does, Emily," Julian whispered, pressing a gentle kiss to the top of her brown curls. "And I think she’s smiling."

Emily smiled, clutching Mr. Hugs in one hand while her other hand reached up to intertwine her fingers securely with Julian’s.

They stood there together under the infinite sky, no longer missing anything at all, having finally found the only cure that truly mattered.
