Chapter 7 - The Return of the HeirTwenty-four hours later.

The grand ballroom of the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island was packed with Lagos elite, politicians, and business moguls. Flashbulbs popped blindingly as Empress Beatrice Ezeani stood at the podium, microphones arrayed before her.

“Tonight,” Beatrice announced proudly into the microphone, her voice echoing across the hall, “we celebrate the formal merger of Ezeani Holdings and Cole Enterprises, sealed by the upcoming union of my grandson, Daniel Ezeani, and Vanessa Cole!”

Applause thundered through the room. Vanessa smiled triumphantly, raising a glass of champagne.

The heavy double doors of the ballroom suddenly swung open.

Music cut off instantly. Conversations died.

Walking down the center aisle wasn't a submissive heir trapped in a tuxedo. It was Daniel—wearing a sharp, custom-tailored traditional agbada, flanked not by bodyguards, but by two federal economic crime investigators and a senior partner from the nation's highest corporate law firm.

Beside him walked Amara, radiant, glowing, wearing a stunning emerald dress that commanded absolute respect.

Beatrice dropped her microphone. It hit the stage with a sharp, piercing shriek of feedback.

“Daniel!” Beatrice roared, her face turning purple with rage. “What is the meaning of this insult?! Who is this street vendor doing in this hall?!”
