Chapter 9 - The Downfall of Empress BeatriceBeatrice’s knees buckled. She grabbed onto the edge of the podium to keep from collapsing, staring at the legal papers in sheer, unadulterated horror.
“No… no, that’s impossible… I built this empire…!” Beatrice choked out, her voice cracking.
“You built it on greed and control,” Daniel said coldly, looking down at the woman who had tried to dictate every aspect of his existence.
The two federal investigators stepped forward, flashing their badges directly in front of Beatrice and her cooperating associates.
“Empress Beatrice Ezeani, you are formally under arrest for corporate intimidation, harassment, illegal surveillance, and attempted coercion of a protected citizen,” the lead investigator announced loudly.
Heavy steel handcuffs snapped onto Beatrice’s wrists with a harsh, metallic click.
