Chapter 3 - The Smoke Clears

Heavy boots crunched over the shattered glass. Three figures clad in tactical gear stepped through the smoke, automatic weapons raised. Their leader, a scarred brute with a jagged tattoo curving up his neck, grinned darkly through the haze.

"Castellano!" the brute shouted, sweeping his rifle across the vast room. "Hand over the asset! That dog belongs to the Bratva, and you’re sitting on borrowed time!"

Lorenzo didn’t flinch. He stepped smoothly behind a marble pillar, his silencer tracking the leader's chest. But before he could pull the trigger, a low, guttural roar echoed through the room—a sound so primal and terrifying that even the mercenaries froze.

It wasn't Lorenzo. It was Grimm.

The massive dog surged forward, no longer acting like a lost puppy, but like a tactical weapon unleashed. But he didn't charge blindly. He moved with a synchronized fury, guided by the quiet, steady hum escaping Nina’s lips. She had dropped back into the ancient lullaby, her voice cutting through the chaos like a beacon in a storm.

"Now, Grimm!" Nina cried.

The dog leaped, clearing six feet of air to slam directly into the second mercenary, knocking the man's assault rifle wide as it clattered against the stone.

Lorenzo fired twice—pfft, pfft—dropping the third enforcer instantly.

The leader spun, aiming his weapon directly at Nina, a manic grin spreading across his face. "Smart bitch. Let’s see the mutt save you now."
