Chapter 10 - THE FINAL HORIZONThe sun dipped low below the Pacific horizon, painting the sky in brilliant shades of amber, violet, and deep gold.

Back in the cabin, the fireplace crackled softly, casting a warm, comforting glow across the wooden floors. There were no crystal chandeliers here, no imported French glass, and no cold marble tables waiting to be smashed by fragile men with fragile egos. There was only authenticity, peace, and unyielding self-reliance.
I poured myself a final cup of coffee and stepped out onto the porch, breathing in the crisp evening air.
People always asked how I managed to stay so calm when everything around me was collapsing. They thought bravery was the absence of fear. But my years as an Army CID Special Agent had taught me a much deeper truth:
