Chapter 6 - The Secret AllianceLate that evening, deep within the subterranean parking garage beneath the financial district, Julian Vance slammed his briefcase onto the passenger seat of his Mercedes.

His hands were shaking. The sheer intimidation radiating from Grant Whitmore had rattled him to his core.

“Arrogant bastard,” Julian muttered, pulling out his smartphone to dial Eleanor Whitmore’s private number.

Before his thumb hit the screen, a heavy hand slammed down on the top of his car door frame.

Julian gasped, jumping in his seat.

Standing beside the driver’s window was a tall, imposing man in a dark trench coat, his face obscured by the dim shadows of the concrete pillar. Behind him stood two massive men in tactical vests.

“Who... who are you?!” Julian stammered, rolling his window down halfway. “I’m a corporate attorney! I’ll call the police!”

“The police won't help you down here, Julian,” a smooth, cold voice echoed from the darkness.

A second figure stepped into the flickering fluorescent light. It was a woman with immaculate silver hair, wearing dark sunglasses despite the underground gloom. Eleanor Whitmore.

Julian swallowed hard, wiping sweat from his forehead. “Mrs. Whitmore... I tried. Grant tore up the agreement. He’s completely unhinged. He threatened to destroy both of us.”

Eleanor didn't smile. She rested her gloved hand on the car door, looking down at the terrified lawyer with eyes full of calculating malice.

“Grant is emotional. Emotion is a fatal flaw in business, Julian,” Eleanor said coldly. “He thinks he has won because he holds physical custody of the children. But he forgets one crucial detail.”

“What detail?” Julian asked nervously.

“The girls are still legal minors with no formally filed birth certificates under Grant’s name—only the fraudulent ones I filed five years ago,” Eleanor smiled thinly. “Which means, in the eyes of the federal family court, they are unregistered wards of the state currently residing in an unauthorized private domicile.”

Julian’s eyes widened as the sinister legal trap clicked into place in his mind. “You want to launch an emergency state custody intervention...?”

“Precisely,” Eleanor declared, her voice dripping with venom. “If Grant refuses to play by my rules, I will have child protective services storm his penthouse with armed marshals and take my granddaughters away legally. And this time, he will never find them again.”
