Chapter 8 - The Ultimate Betrayal UnmaskedGrant stopped moving. He stared at his mother, his chest heaving, his eyes burning with a dark, terrifying fury.

“You orchestrated this,” Grant whispered, his voice trembling with venom. “You used corrupt judges to fabricate a fake custody seizure in the middle of the night.”
Eleanor smiled, stopping just a few feet away from him. “I told you, Grant. You cannot defeat the Whitmore name. You thought a five-hundred-dollar alley rescue made you a hero? You are a foolish boy playing house.”
She turned to the lead welfare officer. “Proceed with the seizure. Take the children down to the waiting transport.”
The officers moved toward the terrified twins. Hazel screamed, wrapping her arms around Norah’s waist as they huddled against the sofa.
“STOP RIGHT THERE!”
A deep, booming voice echoed from the private elevator.
Everyone froze.
Stepping out of the elevator was not a guard or a lawyer. It was Arthur Sterling—elderly, breathless, but carrying a heavy steel briefcase, flanked by two federal agents in dark suits bearing FBI insignia.
Julian Vance’s face turned the color of curdled milk. “F-FBI...?! What is the FBI doing here?!”
Dr. Sterling walked briskly across the room, stopping directly between the welfare officers and the crying children. He opened the steel briefcase and pulled out a thick stack of certified documents, slamming them down onto the coffee table.
“They are here because what Mrs. Whitmore just attempted constitutes federal kidnapping, wire fraud, judicial bribery, and child trafficking across state lines,” Dr. Sterling announced, his voice ringing with absolute authority.
Eleanor’s triumphant smirk vanished instantly, replaced by a cold, sudden spike of panic. “Arthur... you old fool, what are you blabbering about?”
Dr. Sterling turned to the lead FBI agent, nodding firmly. “Agent Miller, please read the arrest warrant.”
The lead FBI agent stepped forward, pulling out an official document.
“Eleanor Whitmore, you are under arrest for the federal conspiracy and falsification of vital records regarding the illicit trafficking of minors, as well as obstruction of justice,” the agent declared crisply.

Before Eleanor could utter a single word in defense, cold steel handcuffs clicked firmly around her wrists.
Julian Vance turned around and bolted frantically toward the elevator, only to find Marcus Cole standing squarely in his path, blocking the doors with a cold, mocking grin before planting a heavy right hook straight into Julian’s jaw, sending the corporate lawyer crashing unconscious to the floor.
