CHAPTER 6 — The Name That Shocked Everyone

By sunrise...

The prison was completely surrounded.

State police.

Federal marshals.

Crime scene investigators.

News helicopters circled overhead.

Graystone Prison had become national news.

But Emma wasn't watching television.

She was studying a single photograph recovered from the hidden tunnel.

It showed four smiling people standing together ten years earlier.

The former prison warden.

The murdered correctional officer.

A wealthy businessman.

And...

A United States senator.

Emma quietly handed the picture to Judge Harrison.

He stared at it for several seconds.

Then whispered,

"Oh no..."

Emma nodded.

"The prison wasn't the business."

"It was the warehouse."

"The prison simply protected it."

Everything suddenly made sense.

The violence.

The corruption.

The mysterious transfers.

Missing evidence.

Disappearing witnesses.

It had all been protecting a massive criminal organization operating far beyond the prison walls.

Judge Harrison immediately ordered,

"Seal every exit."

"No one leaves."

Meanwhile...

Raven sat alone inside maximum security.

For the first time in years...

No followers.

No power.

No fear.

Only silence.

Hours later...

Emma entered the visitation room alone.

Raven laughed bitterly.

"So..."

"You finally came to celebrate?"

Emma sat across from her.

"No."

"I came to make you an offer."

Raven looked confused.

"What offer?"

Emma slid a thick folder across the table.

Inside were hundreds of pages of evidence.

Photographs.

Financial records.

Recorded conversations.

Emma spoke quietly.

"You can spend the rest of your life protecting people who betrayed you..."

"...or help us destroy them."

Raven slowly turned the pages.

Every face she trusted...

Had already abandoned her.

Every promise...

Had been a lie.

A single tear rolled down her cheek.

Not from regret.

From realization.

She had ruled the prison for twelve years...

Yet she had never truly been in control.

She slowly looked up at Emma.

"If I tell you everything..."

"...will innocent women finally be free?"

Emma nodded.

"I give you my word."

Raven closed her eyes.

Then whispered the one name that made every federal agent in the room freeze.

"He calls himself..."

"...The Architect."

The room fell silent.

Because every investigator in America knew that name.

No one had ever seen him.

No one even knew if he truly existed.

But according to dozens of unsolved federal cases...

The Architect had been controlling criminal networks across the country for nearly twenty years.

And now...

May you like

For the first time...

Someone inside Graystone Prison claimed to know exactly who he was.
