Chapter 5 - The Snake's Nest

To take down Sebastian Vale, they had to strike at the heart of his new empire: The Grand Aurelia Hotel. It was the crown jewel of the Vale family fortune, and tonight, Sebastian was hosting a massive charity gala to announce his temporary takeover of the family empire due to his brother's "tragic passing."
With the help of an old, loyal street doctor who patched Lucian up in exchange for a diamond ring Lucian kept hidden in a safe-house brick, they prepared for the final play.
Mara was no longer the prey. Dressed in a stolen designer evening gown, her hair pinned up, she walked right through the front doors of the Grand Aurelia, blending in with the high-society crowd. Lucian was infiltrated through the service elevators, disguised as a member of the catering staff, his face hidden beneath a waiter's cap.
The ballroom was magnificent, filled with crystal chandeliers, expensive champagne, and the corrupt elite of Port Aurelia. At the center of the stage stood Sebastian Vale, looking immaculate in a tailored tuxedo, weeping crocodile tears into a microphone about his brother's untimely death.
"Lucian was a visionary," Sebastian proclaimed to the applause of the crowd. "And I promise to uphold his legacy."
Mara glided through the crowd, approaching the high-security VIP balcony where Sebastian's top enforcers stood guard. She caught the eye of the head of security—the man who had ordered the hit on her apartment.
Using her charm, she lured him into the quiet, dimly lit corridor behind the ballroom, pretending to be a wealthy guest who had lost her way.
"Can I help you, miss?" the enforcer asked, his hand drifting toward his concealed weapon as he grew suspicious.
"Yes," Mara said smoothly, slipping a heavy silver ice bucket off a service cart. "You can tell Sebastian his brother says hello."
Before the man could react, Mara smashed the heavy metal bucket across his jaw, knocking him out cold. Lucian stepped out from a nearby closet, quickly stripping the man of his master keycard and his radio.
They bypassed the security grid and entered Sebastian’s private penthouse suite on the top floor. This was where the servers held the encrypted data detailing the deal with the Russian mob—the only evidence that could destroy Sebastian’s legitimacy and turn the entire syndicate against him.
Lucian downloaded the files onto a flash drive just as the double doors of the penthouse slid open.

Sebastian stood there, flanked by four heavily armed guards. He wasn't surprised. He was smiling.
The Hook: "I knew you wouldn't miss my coronation, big brother," Sebastian mocked, clapping his hands. "But you really shouldn't have brought your little bartender. Did you honestly think the security grid was that easy to hack? I let you up here."
