🖤 CHAPTER 1: The Ghost in the Mirror

The freezing, black water did not claim Emily. It woke her up.
As the yacht’s tail lights faded into the stormy horizon, Emily’s survival instinct—honed by two years of secret, grueling training—kicked in. She didn't panic. She kicked off her heavy heels, controlled her breathing, and rode the violent swells. It took her four agonizing hours, fighting against the current, before her bleeding fingers finally clawed into the sharp rocks of a secluded private cove near the port.
She was alive. And she was no longer the frightened wife. She was a ghost.
Six months later.
Daniel and Michael were celebrating. With Emily declared "missing at sea, presumed dead," Daniel had inherited her massive family estate. Their illegal human trafficking empire was booming, funded by Emily’s blood money. Tonight, they were hosting a lavish masquerade gala at their penthouse to celebrate their newest tech venture.
"To a flawless partnership," Michael clinked his glass against Daniel’s. "And to the sea for keeping our secrets."
Daniel smiled, but as he looked past Michael toward the grand mirror at the end of the hall, his smile froze.
A woman was standing near the balcony. She wore a sleek, midnight-blue silk dress that looked exactly like the color of the ocean at night. Her face was hidden behind a silver Venetian mask, but her eyes—piercing, cold, and dead fixed on him—were unmistakably hers.
Daniel dropped his glass. It shattered on the marble floor.
"What's wrong with you?" Michael hissed.
Daniel blinked, rubbing his eyes. When he looked again, the woman was gone. Only a wet footprint remained on the expensive hardwood floor.
Later that night, after the guests left, Daniel walked into his private bathroom to splash water on his face. The air grew suddenly freezing. As the steam from the hot water clouded the mirror, a message slowly materialized in the condensation, written by a wet finger:

"DID YOU REALLY THINK I COULDN'T SWIM, DANIEL?"
Daniel stumbled backward, screaming for his brother. The nightmare had just begun.
