🖤 CHAPTER 2: The Double Trap

The brothers grew paranoid. Michael insisted Daniel was losing his mind, but then the phone calls started.
Every night at 2:00 AM—the exact time they pushed her off the yacht—Daniel’s phone would ring. When he answered, there was only the sound of roaring wind, crashing waves, and a faint, distorted recording playing back: “You found out too much... You found out too much...” It was the audio from the night of the murder.
"She’s alive, Michael! I'm telling you, she's alive!" Daniel screamed, pacing the office.
"Shut up!" Michael snapped, though his own hands were shaking. "Even if she survived, she has nothing. No money, no power. We control the police. We control the port. If she shows her face, we finish the job."
But Emily wasn't going to the police. She was tearing them apart from the inside.
Using the secret recordings she had backed up to a cloud drive before her "death," Emily began anonymously leaking bits of their illegal transport schemes to their most dangerous business investors—ruthless cartel leaders who did not tolerate loose ends or police attention.
The brothers' empire began to crumble overnight. Accounts were frozen. Investors were threatening their lives. Desperate and cornered, Daniel received a text from an unknown number:
"The old warehouse at the port. Midnight. Bring $10 million in crypto keys, or the cartel gets the full hard drive. Let's finish this where it started."
"It's her," Michael growled, pulling a silenced pistol from the safe. "This time, we bring a gun. No ocean. A bullet to the head."
They arrived at the pitch-black warehouse, rain pouring heavily outside. The atmosphere was suffocatingly tense. Standing in the center of the dim room, under a single flickering lightbulb, was a figure in a raincoat, her back turned to them.
"Emily!" Daniel shouted, raising his gun. "It ends tonight!"
The figure slowly turned around.
May you like
It wasn't Emily. It was the lead investigator of the Federal Crimes Division, surrounded by twenty heavily armed SWAT officers.
"Drop your weapons!" the investigator roared. "Daniel and Michael Vance, you are under arrest for human trafficking and first-degree attempted murder."
