Chapter 7 - Ashes to EmpireTwo weeks after Adrian’s arrest, the corporate restructuring of Vale Enterprises was complete. The company was officially rebranded as Sterling-Vale Holdings, but within the industry, everyone knew whose name carried the real weight.

I stood at the podium in the grand ballroom of the city’s premier convention center, facing a sea of flashbulbs, journalists, and global investors. My father sat in the front row, watching with a steady, approving smile.

"When I took over this institution," I began, my voice echoing clearly through the microphone, steady and commanding, "many in the financial sector wondered what kind of leadership philosophy I would bring. Some expected retaliation. Some expected contraction."

I paused, letting my gaze sweep across the camera lenses broadcasting my face to millions around the world.

"They were wrong. Sterling-Vale Holdings will not operate on the old models of entitlement, hidden debt, and exploitation. We are instituting a zero-tolerance policy for financial fraud, ethical misconduct, and workplace abuse. If an executive cannot lead with integrity, they will find themselves answering to the same standards that govern us all."

The applause that followed wasn't polite; it was thunderous. Investors, analysts, and corporate leaders stood up one by one, recognizing a new kind of power—one built not on intimidation and stolen capital, but on absolute discipline and unshakeable strength.

After the conference concluded, I stepped off the stage and walked toward the private exit leading to the executive suites.

My father was waiting for me with a glass of sparkling water. "You handled them brilliantly, Elena. Your mother would have been very proud of you."

"Thank you, Dad," I said, taking the glass and clinking it gently against his. "Though I think I learned my best lessons from you."

"Ah, remember my primary rule," my father smiled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "Never tell a man the size of your shield."

"I won't," I replied, looking out over the glittering city skyline. "Because now, I am the shield."
