Chapter 2 - THE CORRUPT ALLIANCEVictoria recovered her balance with terrifying speed, forcing a cold, venomous sneer back onto her face.

"You're bluffing," Victoria hissed, stepping protectively in front of Mateo. "Even if you have some forged files, the courts belong to us. The judges, the politicians, the police commissioner—they all answer to the Alarcón name. You can't touch us."

"She's right, Dad..." Mateo whispered, looking at Daniel with a confusing mix of fear and strange, lingering familiarity. "She... she told me my real parents abandoned me."

Daniel’s heart clenched, but he kept his eyes locked on Victoria.

"She lied to you, Mateo," Daniel said softly, taking a slow step forward. "She didn't just steal you. She stole your life because her own grandson passed away, and she refused to let her legacy die. She bought you from the hospital registry with Cruz's help."

Cruz’s face darkened into a murderous scowl. He drew his badge and a pair of heavy steel handcuffs from his belt.

"That's it. You're done, Serrano," Cruz barked, lunging forward to grab Daniel's wrists. "Resisting an officer, stalking a minor—"

Before Cruz’s fingers could wrap around Daniel’s arms, the heavy glass doors of the Grand Imperial Hotel burst open behind them.
