Chapter 5 - ARRIVAL IN THE WINDY CITYThe Grand Azure Hotel in downtown Chicago was a monument to wealth, corruption, and absolute power. Crystal chandeliers sparkled like diamond mines over a ballroom filled with mob bosses, politicians, corrupt judges, and high-society socialites sipping champagne laced with danger.

The heavy oak doors of the grand ballroom swung open.

The room went dead silent.

All eyes turned toward the entrance.

Dante Russo stood near the dais, a glass of scotch in his hand, a smug, triumphant smirk playing on his lips. Beside him stood Serena Bell, draped in diamonds and a custom red velvet gown, her arm looped possessively through his. A few feet away, a ten-year-old Leo Russo stood sneering, looking every bit the arrogant little prince.

Dante expected Evelyn to crawl in, broken, exhausted, begging for mercy.

Instead, the woman who stepped through those doors looked like a queen stepping onto a battlefield.

Evelyn Russo wore a backless, midnight-black silk gown that clung to her flawless figure like liquid shadow. Her dark hair was swept up into a sleek, severe twist, and her eyes—cold, diamond-hard, and completely devoid of fear—swept over the room like a executioner's blade.

And walking beside her were three children.

Julian, Clara, and Liam. Three years old, dressed in matching custom charcoal suits, walking in perfect synchronization, flanked by Harold Bennett in a sharp tuxedo.

A collective gasp rippled through the crowd.

Triplets.

Dante’s smirk vanished. His glass slipped from his fingers, shattering against the marble floor, the sharp sound echoing like a gunshot through the silent ballroom.

"Evelyn," Dante breathed, taking an involuntary step forward. "You... you actually came."

Evelyn walked down the center aisle, the crowd parting before her like the Red Sea. She stopped ten feet away from him, her expression a mask of glacial indifference.

"You invited us, Dante," Evelyn said, her voice carrying effortlessly across the massive room. "How could I refuse an invitation from a man who finally learned how to count?"

Serena Bell stepped forward, her face twisted in a venomous sneer. "Look at you, playing dress-up. You think bringing three little brats here changes anything? Leo is Dante’s true heir. Those kids of yours are nobodies—bastards from nowhere!"

Before Evelyn could even blink, something extraordinary happened.

Julian stepped forward from his mother’s side.

For three years, he had not spoken a single word. Not a sound.

The entire ballroom held its breath, sensing the unnatural, crackling tension in the air.

Julian raised his small chin, looked dead into Serena Bell’s eyes, and spoke in a voice clear, steady, and terrifyingly cold:

"Shut up, trash."
