Chapter 9 - THE LAST CHRISTMASAs the new year approached, the "Bennett-Hale" household became a sanctuary. Abby, the twins, Edward, and Clara built a life in the house on the outskirts.

But Edward’s health continued to decline. He spent his days in the garden, watching the twins play, his memories slipping away like sand through fingers.
On Christmas Eve, exactly one year after the restaurant, Edward sat by the fire, holding Clara’s hand.
"I remember," he whispered. "I remember the day you were born. It was the only day I felt like a human being."
