Chapter 4 - The Boardroom Coup

Morning sunlight flooded the thirty-fifth-floor boardroom of Vance Global Enterprises. The long mahogany table was surrounded by twelve elderly board members, all whispering nervously among themselves.

At the head of the table sat Victoria, wearing an immaculate white Chanel suit, trying desperately to project an aura of absolute control. Next to her sat Julian, silent, his hands steepled under his chin.

The heavy double doors swung open.

Victoria didn't even look up, assuming it was just the catering crew bringing morning coffee. "Leave the tray on the side table and get out," she commanded sharply.

"I'm afraid this meeting isn't about coffee, Victoria," a cool, confident voice echoed.

Victoria snapped her head up. Her face instantly lost all color.

Walking into the room wasn't a caterer. Elena wore a razor-sharp, midnight-blue pinstripe suit. Her hair was pulled back into a sleek bun, and her posture commanded the entire room. Behind her walked Marcus, carrying a stack of digital presentation tablets.

"Guards! Throw her out!" Victoria screamed, jumping to her feet, her chair scraping loudly against the floor. "How did this criminal even get into this building?!"

Not a single guard moved. Julian pressed a button on his remote, and the massive projector screen behind him flickered to life.

"Sit down, Victoria," Julian said, his voice echoing with absolute authority. "We are reviewing a hostile audit."

On the screen flashed financial documents, secret offshore accounts, and intercepted wire transfers—all bearing Victoria’s digital signature. Millions of dollars siphoned directly from the company’s humanitarian trust funds into private luxury accounts in the Cayman Islands.

The board members gasped, leaning forward to read the damning numbers.

"This... this is fake! Fabricated!" Victoria shrieked, her voice cracking as she lunged toward the screen. "Julian! Do something! She's framing me!"

Elena walked slowly toward the head of the table, stopping just inches from Victoria. She didn't raise her voice. She didn't need to.

"You always did suck at math, Victoria," Elena whispered softly. "You thought stealing from the company was clever. You forgot that every single transaction leaves a digital footprint—one that I’ve been tracking since the day you threw that wine."

Victoria turned, her eyes wild with panic, looking around the table for an ally. But every board member was looking down, shaking their heads in disgust. Even the oldest loyalists realized the ship was sinking, and Victoria was the anchor tied to its neck.
