Chapter 5 - The Ultimate Ultimatum

The silence in the boardroom was so thick it could be sliced with a knife.

Victoria collapsed back into her chair, her manicured fingers trembling as she clutched the edges of the mahogany table. Her empire, her status, her entire life’s privilege—it was all evaporating in a matter of minutes.

"The vote," Julian said quietly, breaking the stillness. He looked around the table. "All in favor of stripping Victoria Vance of all executive titles, freezing her personal assets, and handing these findings over to federal prosecutors?"

One by one, twelve hands went up.

Victoria let out a choked sob, looking at her brother with absolute betrayal. "You... you planned this with her. You used me to get control of the entire board, didn't you?"

Julian didn't answer. He didn't have to. His silence was confirmation enough. He was the ultimate chess player, and Victoria had simply been a pawn he was willing to sacrifice to checkmate their rivals.

"No... NO!" Victoria screamed, lunging across the table toward Elena like a cornered animal, her nails clawing for Elena's face. "I'll kill you! You ruined my life!"

In a flash of motion—smooth, effortless, and lightning-fast—Elena sidestepped the attack. With a single, precise sweep of her leg, she knocked Victoria’s feet out from under her. Before Victoria could even hit the ground, Elena twisted her arm behind her back and pinned her neatly against the polished oak floor, exactly as she had done in the ballroom the night before.

The security guards finally stepped forward, but Elena held up a hand, keeping Victoria immobilized with effortless grace.

Elena leaned down until her lips were right next to Victoria’s ear.

"Remember what I said last night?" Elena whispered, her voice like ice water running through Victoria’s veins. "Dignity isn't given... it's claimed."

Victoria sobbed into the carpet, completely broken.

Julian stood up from his chair, walking around the table. He looked down at his sister, then raised his eyes to meet Elena's steady, unblinking gaze.

"The board is yours, Elena," Julian said softly, extending a hand toward the empty CEO chair at the head of the table. "Welcome home, sister."
