Chapter 7 - Unstoppable ForceCRASH!

The reinforced glass windows at the end of the 4th-floor hallway exploded into ten thousand glittering shards.
A massive, armored military Spec-Ops vehicle—a matte-black Oshkosh L-ATV—plowed through the exterior wall, flying through the air from the top tier of the adjacent parking garage and crashing down onto the linoleum floor of the hospital corridor.
The six mercenaries didn't even have time to scream.
The three-ton steel beast skidded down the hallway, crushing two attackers against the wall and scattering the others like bowling pins. Rubber burned against linoleum, filling the air with thick black smoke.
The driver’s side door blew open.
Arthur stepped out into the smoke. He was covered in sweat and blood, his eyes glowing with an unholy, terrifying rage.
In his left hand, he held a heavy tactical shotgun. In his right, he carried the silver briefcase containing the antidote.
The remaining three mercenaries scrambled to raise their weapons, but Arthur didn't give them a microsecond.
PUMP-BANG.
The first mercenary was lifted off his feet by the massive force of the 12-gauge slug, crashing through a drywall partition.
PUMP-BANG.
The second man was neutralized before he could pull his trigger, the shot echoing like a thunderclap through the enclosed hall.
The final mercenary dropped his rifle, pulling a sidearm in a desperate panic. Arthur didn't even bother shooting him. He closed the distance in a fraction of a second, grabbed the man’s wrist, twisted it until the bone shattered through the skin, and slammed his head directly into the armored hood of the L-ATV.
The hallway fell utterly, completely silent.
Arthur stood in the center of the destruction, his chest heaving. He dropped the empty shotgun, grabbed the silver briefcase, and sprinted into room 402.
"Sarah!" Arthur barked.
Sarah rose from behind the concrete pillar, covered in drywall dust, her eyes wide in utter shock. "Arthur... you drove a truck into the fourth floor?!"
"Where is she?" Arthur demanded, ignoring the question completely.
He dropped to his knees beside Tessa’s bed. Her face was deathly pale, her skin icy cold to the touch. The fragile pulse in her neck was barely a flutter.
"She’s slipping!" Sarah yelled, grabbing the medical kit from the floor. "Arthur, her heart is stopping!"
Arthur snapped open the silver briefcase. He pulled out the pressurized auto-injector containing the clear liquid counter-agent. He didn't hesitate. He slammed the injector directly into the central line in Tessa’s neck and pressed the trigger.
HISS.
The fluid emptied into her bloodstream.
For five terrifying seconds, nothing happened.
The silence in the room was deafening. The flatline alarm on the crushed monitor wasn't making a sound, leaving only the sound of the rain pouring through the shattered windows.
"Come on, Tessa..." Arthur pleaded, his voice breaking as he cupped her face in his hands. "Come on, baby. Fight. Please... stay with me..."
Tessa’s body suddenly convulsed violently.
She gasped—a deep, ragged, desperate breath of air that filled her lungs. Her eyes snapped open, wide and clear, as the color surged back into her face. The agonizing tremor in her limbs settled into a steady, strong rhythm.
Arthur closed his eyes, pressing his forehead against hers, tears pouring down his face as he let out a jagged sob of pure relief.
"I’ve got you," Arthur whispered, holding her tight. "I’ve got you. It’s over."
Tessa’s trembling hand reached up, gently touching the side of Arthur’s face. "Arthur..." she whispered, her voice weak but steady. "...we saved him."
Arthur smiled through his tears, placing his massive hand over hers, pressing it against her stomach where their surviving child rested safely.
"Yes, we did," Arthur said. "We saved him."
Sarah stood beside them, holding the bloody USB drive in her hand. She looked out the shattered window at the city below, where police sirens were finally echoing in every direction.
"It’s not over yet, Arthur," Sarah said softly, holding up the drive. "This ledger... it goes all the way to the top. When we expose this, the entire system is going to burn."
May you like
Arthur stood up slowly, looking at the drive in Sarah’s hand, and then down at his wife.
"Good," Arthur said, his eyes turning cold once more. "Let it burn."
