Chapter 18 - The Safe Room Opens

Nathan rushed to the heavy steel door of the panic room, punching his biometric thumbprint into the digital keypad.

BEEP. ACCESS GRANTED.

The heavy steel door swung open smoothly. Rosa stood just inside, clutching the twin babies tightly to her chest while Lily buried her face in Rosa's apron, trembling silently.

"Doctor... are they gone?" Rosa whispered, tears streaming down her face.

"They're gone, Rosa. Everyone is safe," Nathan said, dropping to his knees and wrapping his arms around Lily and Rosa in a fierce, protective embrace. He looked up at Lily, brushing the blond hair from her eyes. "You were so brave, Lily. Just like before."

Upstairs, Sheriff Miller was already on the phone with state police and federal marshals, coordinating the immediate arrest of Eleanor Vance in Seattle. By morning, federal agents had raided Eleanor’s corporate office, seizing all records, freezing her personal assets, and unearthing the complete paper trail linking her to Marcus Kane’s syndicate operations.

The threat that had loomed over the Pierce family for years was finally, irrevocably eradicated.
