Chapter 7 - The Last LegacyThree days later, the corporate merger papers between Vale Industries and Sutton Holdings were formally shredded on national television.

Without Arthur Sutton’s political shielding, the entire Sutton corporate empire collapsed like a house of cards under federal investigation. Board members resigned en masse, stocks plummeted to zero, and Claire Sutton found herself facing federal charges of conspiracy, industrial espionage, and complicity in corporate manslaughter.

Adrian sat behind the massive mahogany desk in his study.

The crayon drawing of Mr. Vale and Lily still sat pinned to the corner of his bulletin board.

He didn't need silence anymore.

For three years, deafness had been his shield against a world that wanted him dead. It had made him underestimate his enemies, yes, but it had also taught him how to watch. How to read the micro-expressions of men who thought he couldn't hear them whispering his execution.

Now, his hearing was returning in full force, aided by minor corrective surgery at a specialized clinic in Switzerland.

The world was noisy, dangerous, and full of betrayal.

And Adrian Vale was ready for every single sound of it.

The intercom on his desk buzzed.

He pressed the speaker button.

"Boss," came the gruff voice of his head of security, Marcus. "We got a visitor at the front gate. Says he's an old associate of your father's. Wants to talk about taking over the New York shipping lanes now that the Sutton vacuum opened up."

Adrian leaned back in his leather chair, a slow, predatory smile spreading across his face.

"Let him in, Marcus," Adrian said, his voice cutting through the intercom with absolute authority.

"Let's see what he has to say."
