Chapter 4 - THE HIDDEN TRUTHI saw the hesitation in Ricardo’s eyes. He didn't know what to make of me. He was used to people who begged, people who lied, and people who hid. He didn't know how to handle someone who had nothing left to lose.

"My husband didn't die in an accident, Ricardo," I said, my voice dropping to a whisper. "He was working on a project. Something about medical research. Something about you."

Ricardo’s face hardened. "Tobias was working on canine trauma recovery. He was a vet."

The silence in the office became absolute. The tracking implant under Nero’s skin wasn't for tracking. It was a data drive. And I was the only one who knew how to unlock it.
