The news stations were airing the data before the tactical teams had even left the property. The names of the syndicate leaders, the corrupt politicians, the handlers—it was all out there.
By morning, the city was in chaos. arrests were happening everywhere.
Ricardo sat in the back of an ambulance, his shoulder bandaged. I stood beside him, Nero laying his head on my lap.
"They'll come for you, Charlotte," he said. "The ones who weren't caught."

"Let them come," I replied. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the small, silver locket Tobias had given me. It held no picture—only a key.
"This key opens a locker in Baltimore," I said. "It contains the rest of the evidence. I'm not a widow anymore, Ricardo. I'm a witness."
