Chapter 19 - The Final TrapElena rushed forward, putting herself between Clara and the hallway leading to the nursery where the twins were sleeping.

"Get out of our home, Clara," Elena commanded, her voice shaking with a terrifying mix of fury and fear. "You have no business here!"

Clara smoothed down her coat with maddening composure, laughing lightly. "Oh, my sweet Elena. Still playing the loyal wife to a man who doesn't even know half the secrets you're hiding."

I stepped between them, my gaze locked onto Clara, my blood roaring in my ears. "Explain what you meant about a federal investigation. Now."

Clara smiled, a truly evil expression. "Your precious biotech firm in London, Elena? The one Julian funded with twelve million dollars? It was built using stolen pharmaceutical patents belonging to my late husband's estate. The SEC and the FBI are already reviewing the wire transfers. By tomorrow morning, federal agents will be raiding this penthouse."

Elena gasped, clutching her chest as her knees buckled. I caught her just in time, pulling her against my chest.

"It's a lie," I growled, looking at Clara with murder in my eyes. "Julian and Elena legally acquired those patents!"

"Ask her," Clara pointed a manicured finger directly at Elena. "Ask her where she got the initial research notes three years ago when she fled to Boston. Did she buy them legally? Or did she steal them from your own corporate safe at Marrow Holdings before you two split?"

I slowly looked down at Elena. Her green eyes were swimming with tears, filled with a guilt so profound it answered my question before she could even speak a single word.

"Elena..." I whispered, my heart shattering into a million pieces. "Tell me she's lying."
