Chapter 5 - THE UNRAVELING EMPIRE

Viral Title: The Widower Wasn't Working Alone! The True Mastermind Was Waiting Outside...
The heavy steel gates burst open under the hydraulic tools of the first responders. Sunlight flooded into the bloody, water-soaked chapel. Police officers, paramedics, and SWAT teams swarmed the building, detaining Arthur's remaining bodyguards and escorting the traumatized guests outside.
Paramedics immediately wrapped Clara in thermal blankets, hooking her up to an IV drip as she lay on a gurney outside the chapel. Maya sat beside her, holding her hand tightly, refusing to leave her side.
"Pulse is stabilizing," the paramedic announced. "She’s going to make it."
Clara looked up at the blue sky, tears of relief falling from her eyes. "It's over, Maya... It's finally over."
Suddenly, a sleek black limousine pulled up to the police perimeter. The rear door opened, and an elegant, elderly woman with sharp features and a diamond-encrusted cane stepped out, surrounded by a team of high-powered attorneys.
It was Victoria Sterling—Arthur’s ruthless mother and the matriarch of the Sterling financial empire.
Victoria walked straight past the police barricade, her eyes cold as ice as she looked at Clara on the gurney, and then at Maya.
"What a horrific tragedy," Victoria said, her voice devoid of any real emotion. "My son is dead, and my daughter-in-law is clearly delusional from brain damage due to lack of oxygen."
"I am NOT delusional, Victoria!" Clara spat, attempting to sit up. "Your son tried to bury me alive for my inheritance!"
Victoria chuckled softly, pulling an official document from her leather folder. "Inheritance? My dear Clara, Arthur didn't act alone. He didn't even own those accounts. I do. And according to the medical examiner’s pre-signed report from this morning, you were declared legally dead at 8:00 AM."
Maya stood up, stepping between Victoria and Clara. "She’s breathing right in front of you! The whole world saw her come out of that coffin!"
"Did they?" Victoria smirked, gesturing to the perimeter. "The signal jammers prevented any video from leaving that room. As far as the media knows, a rogue maid attacked a funeral, caused a stampede, and Arthur was killed in the crossfire. Who do you think the judge, the police chief, and the coroner work for, little girl? The Sterlings OWN this city."
Victoria leaned in close to Maya, her voice dropping to a icy whisper. "By midnight tonight, Clara will have a 'relapse' at the hospital and die for real. And you, Maya, will be charged with the murder of Arthur Sterling and the manslaughter of the chapel guests."

Two police officers walked up behind Maya, pulling out handcuffs.
"Maya Vance," the lead officer said coldly. "You're under arrest for grand homicide."
