Chapter 6 - THE MOTHER'S REVENGE

"I Forgive You, But My Son's Justice Does Not."Three days had passed. The news of the scandal at St. Aurelia Medical Center had exploded across every major news outlet. The viral video of the head nurse slapping Clara Hale had amassed over fifty million views, sparking a nationwide conversation about the treatment of vulnerable patients in healthcare facilities.

Clara was now fully recovered, the swelling on her cheek gone, though a faint, fading pink mark remained.

She sat in a wheelchair in the quiet courtyard of her new clinic, enjoying the warm afternoon sun.

Suddenly, a security guard approached Evan, who was standing nearby. "Mr. Hale... Brenda’s family is outside. Her daughter is begging to speak to your mother. She says Brenda is facing ten years in prison and wants to apologize personally in hopes of a lighter sentence."

Evan frowned, about to refuse immediately, but Clara raised her hand.

"Let her come in, Evan," Clara said softly.

"Mom, she doesn't deserve your kindness," Evan protested.

"I know," Clara replied, her voice filled with a deep, ancient wisdom. "But I need to look her in the eye one last time. Not for her sake. For mine."

A minute later, Brenda was brought into the courtyard under heavy guard, wearing an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs. She looked completely broken, her hair unkempt, her eyes red and swollen from days of crying.

She fell to her knees before Clara, the heavy chains rattling against the stone pavement.

"Mrs. Hale..." Brenda sobbed, bowing her head. "I am so sorry. I was blind. I was consumed by my own greed and power. Please... tell your son to drop the charges. My children... they will grow up without a mother. I beg of you, show me the mercy I didn't show you."

Clara looked down at the woman who had humiliated her, who had struck her, who had treated her like trash.

There was no anger in Clara's eyes. Only a profound, sorrowful pity.

"Brenda," Clara said softly. "I forgive you. I do not harbor hatred in my heart, because hatred is a poison that only destroys the person carrying it. I want my heart to remain clean."

Brenda’s eyes lit up with a sudden, desperate hope. "Thank you! Oh God, thank you—"

"But," Clara continued, her voice gentle yet incredibly firm, "forgiveness does not mean escaping the consequences of your actions. You did not just hurt me. You hurt hundreds of helpless souls who had no one to stand up for them. You must face the law, Brenda. You must pay your debt to society."

Brenda’s hope shattered. She looked up at Evan, who stood behind his mother like an immovable mountain.

"My mother has forgiven you," Evan said coldly. "But my justice does not sleep. You will face the full extent of the law."
