Chapter 6 - The Ultimate Plot Twist

"What is the meaning of this?!" Victor screamed, spinning around.
Suddenly, the floodlights of the entire pier snapped on, blinding everyone inside the container. The sound of dozens of heavy vehicles surrounded the area. But it wasn't the police.
Black SUVs bearing the coat of arms of the Valenti Family—the most ruthless, ancient mafia clan from Europe, a family thought to have been wiped out five years ago—blocked every exit.
From the shadows walked a woman in a sharp, tailored black suit. She looked remarkably like Mara, but her eyes were cold, calculating, and predatory. It was Mara’s older sister, Elena. Behind her were fifty heavily armed soldiers.
"Did you really think," Elena said, her voice echoing over the water, "that the Bellaro family was the only empire in this room?"
Vivienne backed up against the container wall, her confidence vanishing. "The Valenti family... you're dead. Your father was executed!"
"Our father was executed," Elena corrected, looking directly at Mara. "But his daughters lived. One stayed to run the family business in the shadows... and the other chose to become a nurse to hide our most valuable asset."
Dante looked up at Mara, utter shock freezing his features. "Mara... you're a Valenti?"
Mara slowly stood up, untying Leo’s ropes with calm, practiced hands. The terrified, submissive nurse was gone. Her posture was straight, her gaze lethal. She looked down at Vivienne with a chilling smile.
"I didn't hide from you to protect myself from the Bellaros, Vivienne," Mara said softly, taking the gun from Marco’s dead hand. "I hid because my family was rebuilding. Dante didn't marry a commoner. He married the rightful queen of Europe."
Victor tried to reach for his weapon, but a sniper round instantly took out both of his knees. He collapsed, screaming in agony.
"Dante," Mara said, turning to her husband, who was watching her with a mixture of awe and profound realization. "I told you I would keep our son safe. I just didn't tell you how much firepower I had backing me up."
Vivienne fell to her knees, begging for mercy as Elena’s men moved in.

Mara walked over to Dante, offering him her hand—exactly as he had done for her in the hospital room hours before. "The Armand family is finished. The city belongs to us now. Let's go home, husband."
Dante took her hand, a slow, bloody smile spreading across his face. The underworld had thought the Bellaro king was vulnerable because of a nurse. They didn't realize that the nurse was the dangerous one all along.
