Chapter 10 - THE SEAL’s PROMISETwo years later.

The sun was setting over a magnificent wooden estate overlooking the crystal-clear waters of Puget Sound, Washington.
Children’s laughter echoed across the wide green lawn.
Eight-year-old Eli was running across the grass, playing fetch with a broad-chested Belgian Malinois puppy, kicking a soccer ball toward a small net.
On the wide timber porch, Reese sat on a plush swinging bench, wearing a soft cream sweater. In her arms, she held a sleeping three-month-old baby girl with soft dark hair and sharp hazel eyes—Isabella Ward.
Footsteps sounded behind her.
Ethan walked out onto the porch, carrying two mugs of hot tea. He set the mugs down on the small table and sat down beside her, wrapping his massive, protective arm around her shoulders, pulling her close against his side.
"She’s finally asleep," Reese whispered softly, smiling down at their infant daughter.
"She takes after her mother," Ethan murmured, leaning down to kiss Reese’s temple. "Strong, brave, and quiet."
Ethan looked out over the lawn at Eli playing happily in the fading sunlight.
The dark memories of hospital rooms, assassins, and military violence were completely gone, replaced by an everlasting peace built on truth, courage, and unconditional love.
Ethan reached down, taking Reese’s hand, rubbing his thumb over the simple, elegant gold wedding band resting on her ring finger.
"Do you ever miss the chaos of the Ashborne trauma floor?" Ethan teased softly with a warm smirk.
Reese looked up into the handsome, loving face of her SEAL Captain husband, her heart full and complete.

"Not for a single second," Reese smiled softly, leaning up to press her lips against his. "I'm right where I belong."
