Chapter 15 - Justice at Ten Thousand Feet

Before Sterling could finish his sentence, I lunged across the cabin table, grabbed him by the lapels of his expensive Italian suit, and hauled him bodily out of his leather seat, slamming him against the wood-paneled cabin wall. The crystal tumbler slipped from his fingers, shattering into a thousand glittering shards across the carpet.
“You touch my family,” I whispered, pressing the barrel of my gun firmly against his throat, “and I won't just ruin your empire. I’ll throw you out of this cabin at thirty thousand feet without a parachute.”
Sterling’s arrogant composure finally fractured entirely. The cold, aristocratic facade melted away into naked, animal terror.
“M-Mason… wait,” Sterling choked out, his hands clawing weakly at my wrists. “It was just… a leverage play. We only wanted to force you to sign over the municipal transit contracts. No one was going to hurt them!”
“You crossed a line that no amount of money can uncross,” I said, my voice dead and absolute.
Marcus and the security team entered the cabin behind me, quickly untying Claire and the children. Claire rushed forward, throwing her arms around my neck, burying her face in my shoulder as our triplets sobbed quietly against her legs.
“Mason, let’s go home,” Claire whispered, her voice trembling. “Please. Let the feds handle him.”
I looked down at Claire, seeing the lingering shadow of the terror she had endured a decade ago in the hospital. I lowered the gun slowly, stepping back from Sterling, who collapsed onto the floor, gasping for breath like a stranded fish.

“Marcus,” I said, not taking my eyes off the broken billionaire. “Call the FBI’s domestic terrorism division. Tell them the head of the Ironwood Consortium is currently trespassing on an unauthorized aircraft filled with stolen biometric assets.”
“Gladly, Boss,” Marcus grinned, clicking his radio.
