The morning air was crisp as Dana stood alone on the parade field at Fort Liberty, looking out across the expanse where she had spent decades of her life serving her country.

Though she was officially retired, the base commander had invited her back for a private retirement review and final ceremonial honors.

As she stood at attention in her immaculate service uniform, her ribbons shining brightly in the morning light, a formation of junior officers marched past, offering a crisp, respectful salute.

Dana raised her right hand in a sharp, flawless military salute, acknowledging them with the quiet dignity of a true leader.

Major Hayes walked up beside her after the formation dispersed, holding a polished walnut presentation box containing her retirement plaque and service commendations.

“End of an era, Colonel,” Hayes said quietly.

“Just a change of command, Major,” Dana replied, lowering her hand.

“What are you going to do now? No more tactical raids, no more encrypted ledgers?”
