Chapter 5 - The Execution of the Vultures

The interrogation room at the federal building was cold. Charles Sterling sat in handcuffs, his expensive suit looking wrinkled and pathetic under the fluorescent lights. Across from him sat Julian and Marcus, representing the new board of Vanguard Global.
"Where is Arthur?" Charles demanded, his voice hoarse. "I want to see my brother! He can't do this to me! We share the same blood!"
"Arthur doesn't exist anymore," Julian said coldly, sliding a document across the table. "As of 8:00 PM tonight, the entire Sterling Estate has been legally dissolved and transferred into a public trust managed entirely by the people of New York City's public labor unions. You didn't just lose to Arthur, Charles. You lost to every single person you ever looked down on."
Meanwhile, outside the Vance Biotech headquarters, moving trucks were already lined up. Thomas Vance sat on the curb, his head in his hands, weeping openly. Victoria Vance stood beside him, still wearing her white designer dress, which was now stained with grease and dirt from her desperate ordeal earlier that day. She looked at her phone; every single credit card was declined. Her social media accounts were flooded with millions of comments condemning her for her cruelty to the old man, completely destroying her reputation permanently.
She had become the universal symbol of elitist arrogance, a viral villain overnight.
Back at the Vanguard Tower's rooftop helipad, a private helicopter's blades were spinning, cutting through the crisp night air. Arthur Sterling stood near the edge, looking out over the glittering skyline of Manhattan. He was no longer wearing the dirty street cleaner uniform. He wore a pristine, bespoke midnight-blue suit, his silver hair neatly combed back. He looked like the god of finance once more.
Julian walked out onto the helipad, holding a secure briefcase. "Arthur, the board is waiting. The markets open in six hours. With Charles gone and Vance Biotech liquidated, you have total control of the financial sector. You can take your throne back."
Arthur looked down at his hands. They were still calloused and rough from years of manual labor.
"The throne is an illusion, Julian," Arthur said, his voice carrying over the roar of the helicopter engines. "When I sat up here seven years ago, I thought I ruled the world. But I was blind. I couldn't see the foundation holding the whole tower up."

"What are you going to do?" Julian asked, panic rising in his voice. "You can't just leave us again."
💥 CHAPTER 5 HOOK: Arthur walked toward the helicopter door, but before he stepped inside, he turned back to Julian and threw a heavy, old metal key onto the concrete helipad. "That key opens a locker at the Grand Central sanitation depot. Inside is the original hard drive containing the offshore accounts of every corrupt politician on the East Coast. If I stay, they will fight to keep their secrets. If I disappear, they will destroy each other trying to find it." Arthur smiled darkly. "Let the vultures eat each other."
