Chapter 2 - The Red Folder's Legacy

The sudden chaos of the fire alarm bought Eleanor exactly what she needed: time. The automated courthouse safety systems instantly unlocked the emergency fire doors.
"Run!" Eleanor shouted, grabbing Noah and bolting through the side exit into the labyrinthine back corridors of the Philadelphia courthouse. Behind them, she heard Marcus shouting commands, the heavy thud of tactical boots echoing on the marble floors.
The Safehouse in the CityEleanor didn't go to her car. She knew the black sedans would be waiting in the parking garage. Instead, she took Noah through the rain-soaked alleyways to an old, decommissioned archive building she owned—a place left to her by her late husband.
Inside, beneath the dim light of a single desk lamp, Eleanor plugged the flash drive into an encrypted, off-grid laptop.

Claire's True MissionAs the files loaded, Noah sat on a crate, shivering. Eleanor wrapped her woolen coat around his shoulders. "Noah, did your mother ever talk about me?"
Noah looked up, his eyes reflecting the blue light of the laptop screen. "She said you were a good judge, but you forgot that laws are made for people, not people for laws. She said she wanted to make you proud by finishing the case you couldn't close."

Eleanor's heart broke. Claire hadn't hated her. She had been trying to live up to her mother's legacy, protecting her son from a network of corruption that extended all the way to the state capital.
Suddenly, the screen flashed red. A GPS tracking alert appeared. The flash drive had an embedded beacon. Marcus knew exactly where they were.
