Chapter 1 - THE BLACK PARASITE OF THE CALDWELL EMPIRE

The thing writhing in the girl’s palm was not organic—at least, not entirely. It looked like a thread of liquid obsidian, a microscopic centipede made of metallic gel, pulsing with a faint, sickening bioluminescence. As the sunlight hit it, the creature hissed, a sound like burning flesh, before dissolving into a gray, odorless ash.

For the first time in twelve years, Lucas Caldwell didn’t just hear the world. He saw it.

The transition wasn't a gentle awakening; it was a violent assault of color and sharp edges. He screamed, clutching his face as tears of fresh blood leaked from his left eye.

"Lucas!" Ethan roared, lunging forward, his billionaire composure shattering into raw, paternal panic. The guards finally broke their paralysis, tackling the mysterious girl to the manicured grass.

"Wait! Don't hurt her!" Lucas gasped, his voice cracking. He looked up, his left eye bloodshot but fiercely clear, locked onto the girl. "She... she took it out. Father, I can see. I can see you."

Ethan froze. The titan of tech, a man who controlled market-shifting algorithms, dropped to his knees. He looked into his son’s eye. The dull, milky film that had baffled the world’s top ophthalmologists was entirely gone.

"How?" Ethan whispered, turning his gaze to the dirt-streaked girl pinned by his security team. "What did you just do to my son? Who are you?"

The girl, despite having a 200-pound guard’s knee in her back, didn't flinch. She raised her head, a grim, knowing smile playing on her lips. "My name is Maya. And you shouldn't be asking how I took it out, Mr. Caldwell. You should be asking who paid the world's greatest doctors to put it in there when he was five years old."

THE FACEBOOK HOOK: The doctors said it was an incurable genetic disease. They lied. It wasn't a disease—it was a high-tech surveillance parasite. And the person who ordered its installation was currently sitting in the Caldwell family mansion.
