Chapter 6 - THE PLOT TWIST OF THE CENTURY: THE MISTRESS WAS ACTUALLY HIRED BY THE WIFE’S BILLIONAIRE MOTHER!

Six months later, the chaos had finally settled. Adrián Velasco was serving a twenty-two-year sentence without the possibility of parole. His brother Mauricio and his uncle had their medical licenses permanently stripped and were facing heavy fraud charges for the IVF manipulation.
The Montes estate in Las Lomas was quiet, bathed in the soft glow of the afternoon sun. Valeria sat on the veranda, watching a nanny push Mateo, Emiliano, and Bruno in a custom triple stroller through the manicured gardens. They were healthy, chubby, and safe.
The French doors opened, and her mother, Elena Montes, walked out carrying two glasses of white wine. She set one down in front of Valeria.
"You look peaceful, darling," Elena said, taking a sip.
"I am," Valeria smiled, looking at her kids. "For the first time in five years, I don't feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. But there’s still one thing that bothers me, Mom."
Elena raised an eyebrow. "Oh? And what is that?"
"Celeste Navarro," Valeria said, her eyes turning sharp. "She vanished right after the trial. Her father’s company went under, but she never faced criminal charges for her role in the forgery or the stolen Birkin. Our legal team just let her drop off the grid. Why?"
Elena smiled—a calm, brilliant, and terrifyingly calculated smile. She reached into her pocket, pulled out a flash drive, and laid it gently on the table.
"Because, Valeria... Celeste didn't find Adrián. I found Celeste."
Valeria froze, her glass stopping halfway to her mouth. "What?"
"Five years ago, when you told us you were marrying a low-level logistics manager and refusing your inheritance, your father and I were terrified," Elena explained calmly. "We knew Adrián’s family background. We knew his uncle’s clinic. We knew his father’s debts. We knew exactly what kind of opportunistic parasites they were. But you were deeply in love, and if we tried to stop the marriage, you would have cut us out of your life forever."
Valeria’s heart began to race. "Mom... what did you do?"
"Three years ago, I realized Adrián was beginning to look for an exit strategy to steal your assets. So, I hired Celeste Navarro," Elena revealed, her voice as smooth as silk. "She is a professional corporate operative specializing in asset-exposure. Her father’s financial trouble was real, and I offered to clear his debts completely under one condition: Celeste had to become Adrián’s perfect fantasy."
Valeria stared at her mother, completely stunned.
"Celeste was instructed to push him," Elena continued. "She was the one who suggested he forge the divorce papers. She was the one who demanded the Birkin bag, knowing it would trip our internal security alerts. She was the one who convinced him to rush into the hospital room to humiliate you, ensuring there would be multiple witnesses and a paper trail of extreme emotional distress for the custody courts."
Valeria let out a breath she felt like she had been holding for years.
"So Celeste was working for us the entire time? The mistress was a setup?"
"She was a catalyst," Elena corrected gently. "If Adrián had been a good husband, if he had loved you and cared for those babies, Celeste would have failed. He had every opportunity to say no to her. He had every opportunity to be an honorable man. But his greed was his own executioner. We just provided the stage."
Valeria looked back out at the garden. She watched her three beautiful boys laughing in the sunlight. The empire she had tried so hard to run away from hadn't just protected her; it had completely cleansed her life of a cancer she didn't even know was eating away at her foundation.
She picked up her wine glass and clinked it against her mother's.

"To family," Valeria whispered.
"To the Montes Empire," Elena replied. "Where no one ever wins a war against us."
