Chapter 14 - The Warning Signal

The encrypted terminal on Adrienne’s desk flashed a silent, blood-red alert at 3:14 AM.

Adrienne sat instantly upright, the sleep vanishing from his gray eyes in a fraction of a second. He tapped the console, decoding the high-frequency intercept routed from his maritime surveillance team in Genoa.

Target compromised. Unauthorized surveillance teams spotted near Sector 9. Rival chatter indicates an impending strike on Tuesday.

Adrienne’s jaw tightened. The gray of his eyes turned to cold, hard slate. He reached out and picked up his satellite phone, dialing a direct extension.

"Giovanni," Adrienne said softly, his voice dropping to a lethal whisper.

"Boss. I'm awake."

"Vittoria is moving on Genoa."

"Shall we intercept them at the perimeter?"

"No," Adrienne replied, a dark, calculated edge sharpening his words. "Let them move into position. Let them think they caught us sleeping. On Tuesday morning, I want every warehouse, shipping lane, and front company belonging to Vittoria surrounded, seized, and dismantled before the sun hits the water."

"Understood, Boss. And Vittoria himself?"

"Bring him to me," Adrienne commanded. "Alive. I want to teach him what happens when someone mistakes a moment of peace for weakness."
