Chapter 9 - The Reckoning at the WarehouseThe final chess piece had to be moved, and Vincent Calloway was a master player.

At 2:00 AM, an abandoned railway warehouse on the outskirts of the South Side—Dante Moretti’s primary stash house for untraceable contraband—was surrounded in absolute silence. No police sirens. No flashing lights. Just twenty of Vincent’s most elite enforcers cutting the perimeter fences.

And walking right in the center of the assault team, unfazed by the sub-zero wind, was Ranger.

Inside the warehouse, Dante Moretti and his top lieutenants were huddled around a folding table, counting stacked bricks of cash and discussing their next move now that Julian’s financial sabotage had supposedly gone through.

"By sunrise, Calloway's empire belongs to us," Dante laughed, pouring a glass of bourbon. "The dog couldn't save him, the housekeeper couldn't save him, and—"

BOOM!

The heavy iron sliding doors of the warehouse blew inward, crashing onto the concrete floor in a cloud of dust and rusted metal.

Before Dante and his men could even reach for their weapons, a massive black blur surged through the smoke.

Ranger hit the front line of Dante's guards like a freight train. Men were thrown across the room, weapons flying from their hands as the 150-pound mastiff dismantled the security detail with terrifying, controlled efficiency.

Dante scrambled backward, pulling a silver-plated pistol from his waistband, aiming frantically toward the dust.

"Stop right there!" Dante screamed, his hands shaking violently.

Through the clearing smoke walked Vincent Calloway.

He wasn't holding a gun. He held nothing at all except the calm, chilling demeanor of a man who owned the very air his enemies breathed.

"You lost, Dante," Vincent said coldly, stopping ten feet away.

"I'll kill you!" Dante shrieked, his finger tightening on the trigger.

Before Dante could pull the trigger, a low, rumbling growl echoed from the shadows behind him. Dante froze, feeling the hot, rancid breath of a 150-pound beast right against the back of his neck.

Ranger had circled around the entire warehouse without making a single sound.

Dante dropped his weapon, letting it clatter against the concrete. His knees buckled under him, and he collapsed onto the floor, trembling in sheer, unadulterated terror.

Vincent walked slowly forward, looking down at his rival with absolute disdain.

"You thought my dog lost his edge, Dante," Vincent said quietly. "You thought because a little girl showed him kindness, he had forgotten how to be a monster. But you were wrong."

Vincent raised two fingers.

Ranger stepped back, allowing Vincent's enforcers to secure the warehouse, the cash, and Dante Moretti once and for all. The syndicate was united, the traitors were gone, and the Calloway empire was stronger and more terrifying than it had ever been.
