The emergency board meeting began at exactly 9:00 a.m.
Nathan Caldwell entered smiling.
"Ethan."
"You look stronger already."
Ethan smiled back.
"I've had time to think."

The smile disappeared.

Nathan barely glanced at them.

Marissa dimmed the lights.
A projector lit up the wall.
Deleted emails.
Forged approval chains.
Hidden bonus payments.
Secret meetings.
Offshore transfers.

the evidence appeared.
Then came the final document.
A confidential memo signed by Nathan himself.
Objective: Increase shareholder returns through accelerated tenant turnover.
Target:
300 family evictions per quarter.
Silence swallowed the room.
Nathan finally spoke.
"You don't understand business anymore."
Ethan's eyes narrowed.
"No."
"I understand it better than ever."
Nathan stood.
"You built an empire."
"I made it profitable."
"You were grieving."
"I protected the company."
"You would've approved these changes eventually."
Ethan slowly shook his head.
"I built warehouses."
"I built jobs."
"I built homes."
"You built fear."
Nathan's voice became colder.
"Investors loved the results."
"And they loved your rising stock price."
"You should be thanking me."
Instead...
Ethan reached beneath the table.
He pressed one button.
The boardroom doors opened.
Federal investigators walked inside.
"So that's why you asked us to wait outside," one agent said.
Nathan froze.
"You recorded everything?"
Ethan nodded.
"You wanted me dead in business."
"You never expected two little girls to keep me alive."
As agents placed Nathan in handcuffs, he shouted across the room,
"You'll destroy this company!"
