🔥 CHAPTER 8 — "THE BILLIONAIRE'S FINAL REQUEST"

The visitors introduced themselves as attorneys.

Their leader, a silver-haired woman named Rebecca Collins, politely shook Ethan's hand.

"Mr. Carter..."

"We've been trying to find you for several months."

Ethan looked confused.

"I'm sorry... have we met?"

She smiled.

"No."

"But one of our clients knew your grandmother."

Those words immediately caught his attention.

"My grandmother?"

Rebecca nodded.

"His name was Henry Whitmore."

Several older teachers gasped.

Everyone recognized the name.

Henry Whitmore had been one of the country's most successful businessmen.

He had built a multi-billion-dollar company before retiring from public life.

"But..." Ethan said quietly.

"I've never met him."

Rebecca slowly opened the briefcase.

"There was a reason."

She handed Ethan an old photograph.

In it stood a young Henry...

Beside Marta.

They looked no older than twenty.

Ethan stared in disbelief.

"Who... was he?"

Rebecca smiled.

"They grew up together."

"They were childhood friends."

"Your grandmother once saved his life after a factory accident."

"For decades, he tried to repay her."

"But every time he offered money..."

"She refused."

"'Help someone who needs it more than I do,' she always told him."

Rebecca reached into the folder again.

"Mr. Whitmore passed away three weeks ago."

Before his death, he left detailed instructions.

One instruction mentioned only one name.

Marta.

Since she had already passed away, the responsibility now belonged to Ethan.

Rebecca handed him the final document.

Hands trembling, Ethan opened it.

At the top were the words:

LAST WISH OF HENRY WHITMORE

Beneath them was a handwritten message.

Dear Ethan,

Your grandmother never allowed me to repay my debt.

So I ask you to honor the only wish she ever repeated to me.

Don't use this gift to become wealthy.

Use it to give dignity to people the world refuses to see.

Ethan turned the page.

His breath caught.

Henry Whitmore had donated nearly $100 million to permanently expand the Marta Foundation.

Teachers covered their mouths in shock.

The principal sat down, overwhelmed.

Rebecca smiled warmly.

"There's one more condition."

Ethan looked up.

"The foundation must never carry Mr. Whitmore's name."

"It must always remain..."

The Marta Foundation.

For a long moment, Ethan couldn't speak.

Then he quietly closed the folder.

He looked toward the cafeteria, where the little boy was laughing with other children for the first time since losing his grandmother.

A gentle smile appeared on Ethan's face.

"My grandmother was right."

Rebecca tilted her head.

"What do you mean?"

Ethan looked at Marta's old photograph.

"Kindness never disappears."

"It simply waits..."

"For someone else to continue it."

Outside, the rain finally stopped.

Sunlight broke through the clouds.

And although Marta was no longer there to see it...
