CHAPTER 10 — The Real Mastermind

Three months later...

The world believed the Black Raven Organization had been destroyed.

Eleanor Graves had disappeared.

Victoria was arrested while attempting to flee the country.

Ethan, Alexander's uncle, and dozens of executives were convicted after investigators uncovered years of fraud, bribery, and conspiracy.

Blackwood Industries slowly recovered.

Alexander became Chairman once again.

Emily finally reclaimed her legal identity.

For the first time since they were born, the twins celebrated a birthday together.

Peace had finally arrived.

Or so everyone believed.

One rainy evening, Marcus entered Alexander's office carrying a sealed envelope with no return address.

Inside was a single photograph.

Alexander froze.

It showed Eleanor Graves sitting in a quiet café.

Across from her...

Was Richard Blackwood.

Alexander's father.

Alive.

The photograph had been taken only four days earlier.

Alexander stared at it in disbelief.

Richard had died in his arms.

He had attended the funeral.

He had watched the coffin lowered into the ground.

Then Alexander noticed something hidden in the corner of the photograph.

A reflection in the café window.

The person taking the picture.

Marcus zoomed in.

Neither of them spoke.

It wasn't a stranger.

It wasn't Eleanor.

It wasn't Richard.

It was Emily.

Alexander's hands began to tremble.

"No..."

Marcus quietly opened the rest of the envelope.

Inside was a handwritten letter.

Dear Alexander,

Everything Eleanor told you was true... except one thing.

The organization never needed a new leader. It needed someone capable of ending it forever.

That person was never you.

It was me.

I let them believe I was the missing sister.

I let them think I escaped.

I let them chase me because they never realized I had already taken everything they built.

Every file. Every account. Every secret.

They're all gone.

No one will ever use them to control another family again.

Don't look for me.

This is the first decision I've ever made as a free woman.

Your sister,

Emily.

Alexander lowered the letter.

For several minutes, neither he nor Marcus spoke.

Finally, Marcus smiled.

"So..."

"Who won?"

Alexander looked out the window as the rain fell over the city.

After everything they had endured...

He realized there was only one answer.

"No one."

"We simply gave the next generation a chance to live without fear."

At that very moment, thousands of miles away, a woman with long dark hair boarded a train using a different passport and a different name.

She looked out the window as the train pulled away.

For the first time in her life...

She wasn't running from the past.

May you like

She was finally running toward her own future.

THE END
