CHAPTER 2 — THE GHOST WHO WATCHED EVERYTHING

Three days later...

Every newspaper carried the same headline.

MISSING BUSINESSWOMAN PRESUMED DEAD AFTER YACHT ACCIDENT.

Daniel played the grieving husband perfectly.

Television cameras surrounded the mansion.

He cried.

He hugged reporters.

He donated money to a marine rescue organization.

Millions of viewers believed every word.

Only one person knew the tears were fake.

Emily.

Hidden inside Captain Luis's isolated beach cottage, she watched the funeral coverage on television.

Then she laughed.

For the first time since the attack.

She laughed.

Captain Luis looked surprised.

"Aren't you angry?"

Emily shook her head.

"No."

"They've already made their first mistake."

"What mistake?"

"They buried me..."

"...before finding my body."

Meanwhile...

Daniel had already begun transferring Emily's company shares.

Insurance lawyers arrived.

Bank accounts changed ownership.

Luxury properties were quietly placed under shell corporations.

The brothers moved quickly.

Too quickly.

They believed nobody was watching.

They were wrong.

Emily remembered something Daniel had once mocked her for.

"You always save every password."

He had laughed.

She never forgot.

Now that habit became their nightmare.

Using emergency recovery codes stored in encrypted cloud backups, Emily entered accounts Daniel never imagined she could still access.

Every transfer.

Every fake company.

Every offshore account.

Every payment.

Every hidden shipment.

She copied everything.

Night after night.

Without sleeping.

Until finally...

she found something much worse than murder.

A hidden database.

Hundreds of names.

Photographs.

Passports.

Missing people.

Women.

Children.

Workers.

Entire families.

Emily's hands began shaking.

This wasn't smuggling.

This was human trafficking.

Daniel and Michael weren't businessmen.

They were running an international criminal network.

Suddenly...

another file appeared.

Its title froze her blood.

PHASE TWO

Inside was a list.

Eight names.

Each crossed out after death.

Only one remained.

Emily Carter.

Target Status:

ELIMINATED

She realized something horrifying.

She wasn't the first wife they had murdered.

She was simply...

the only one who survived.

That same night...

someone knocked on Captain Luis's door.

Three slow knocks.

Emily froze.

Nobody knew she was alive.

Captain Luis cautiously opened the door.

Standing outside...

was an elderly woman dressed entirely in black.

She quietly handed Emily a photograph.

In it...

Daniel stood beside another woman.

His arm wrapped around her shoulder.

The date on the photo was...

seven years earlier.

The woman smiled softly.

"I've been waiting for you."

Emily looked confused.

"Who are you?"

The stranger answered with tears in her eyes.

May you like

"I'm the widow..."

"...of the first woman your husband killed."
