🔥 CHAPTER 7 — THE COURTROOM EXPLODED WHEN THE "DEAD WIFE" WALKED IN

The federal courthouse was surrounded by hundreds of reporters before sunrise.

Satellite news vans lined every street.

The case had become the biggest criminal trial in the country.

Two wealthy businessmen.

An international human trafficking network.

Multiple murders.

And a wife who had returned from the dead.

Inside the courtroom, Daniel sat in an expensive navy suit, though the handcuffs around his wrists reminded everyone that his fortune no longer meant anything.

Michael sat beside him, his face pale after months in federal custody.

Neither brother spoke.

Their lawyers still believed they had one final chance.

"No body was ever recovered from the previous cases," one attorney whispered. "The prosecution has no direct witnesses."

Daniel nodded slowly.

Then the courtroom doors opened.

Everyone turned.

Gasps echoed across the room.

Emily walked in.

Alive.

Elegant.

Wearing a simple white suit.

Every camera flashed at once.

Daniel's mouth fell open.

"You..."

"You can't be here..."

Emily calmly took the witness stand.

The judge asked one question.

"Mrs. Carter, can you identify the men who attempted to murder you?"

Emily never looked away from Daniel.

"Yes."

"My husband..."

"...and his twin brother."

The courtroom fell completely silent.

Then came the evidence.

The waterproof phone.

The audio recording.

Security footage from the warehouse.

Financial records.

Satellite tracking from the yacht.

Every lie Daniel had ever told unraveled piece by piece.

But the biggest surprise had yet to come.

Agent Rebecca Collins stood and addressed the court.

"Your Honor..."

"We have another witness."

An elderly woman slowly entered the courtroom.

Eleanor Hayes.

She carried a worn leather box that had remained hidden for seven years.

Inside were Rebecca Hayes's personal journals—Daniel's first wife.

Each page documented months of fear, hidden bruises, suspicious insurance policies, and repeated threats before her disappearance.

The final page was written just one day before she vanished.

"If anything happens to me, it wasn't an accident. Daniel promised that the ocean keeps secrets."

Daniel closed his eyes.
