CHAPTER 2: THE SECRET INSIDE THE LETTER

Nobody spoke.
Richard stared at the girl.
"Who are you?"
Sophia slowly reached into her folder.
She pulled out an old envelope.
The moment Richard saw it, his face lost all color.
The envelope contained a symbol.
A symbol nobody in the company knew.
But Richard knew it immediately.
His hands started trembling.
"Where did you get that?"
Sophia looked directly into his eyes.
"My mother told me to give it to you."
The room watched in confusion.
Richard slowly opened the envelope.
Inside was a letter.
A letter written thirteen years earlier.
His hands shook as he read.
Then his eyes filled with tears.
The executives had never seen Richard Hoffman cry.
Not once.
Not ever.
The letter came from Emily Carter.
The woman Richard had loved before becoming a billionaire.
Years ago Richard and Emily had been inseparable.
Then tragedy struck.
Richard lost contact with her after moving overseas to build his business empire.
He searched for years.
But she had disappeared.
Now, after thirteen years...
Her letter had finally arrived.
Richard continued reading.
His breathing became uneven.
The room remained silent.
Finally he looked at Sophia.
"Your mother..."
Sophia lowered her eyes.
"She passed away three months ago."
Richard closed his eyes.
The pain hit him like a truck.
Sophia continued softly.
"Before she died, she told me to find you."
Richard could barely speak.
"Why?"
Tears appeared in Sophia's eyes.
"Because she wanted you to know the truth."
The little girl slowly pulled out an old photograph.
Richard froze.
It showed him and Emily together.
Taken fourteen years earlier.
Before everything fell apart.
Then Sophia whispered the words that shattered him.
"My mother said you're my father."
The room gasped.
One executive dropped a pen.
Another covered her mouth.
Richard stared at the child.
At her eyes.
At her smile.
At the shape of her face.
Suddenly he saw it.
The resemblance.
The same eyes.
The same expression.
The same stubborn determination.
His knees nearly gave out.
For thirteen years he had unknowingly had a daughter.
And while he was building a billion-dollar empire...
She had been growing up without him.
But an even darker truth was about to emerge.
May you like
A truth hidden inside the company itself.
A truth that would expose betrayal from the people Richard trusted most.
