Chapter 5 - The Hidden VaultInside the rumbling cabin of the military chopper, the noise of the twin turbos made conversation nearly impossible. Noah handed me a pair of noise-canceling flight headphones and secured another set over Lily’s tiny ears.

She quickly drifted back to sleep, lulled by the rhythmic vibration of the aircraft.
I sat gripping the metal safety rail, my heart hammering against my ribs. "Where are we going?" I shouted over the din.
"A secure DOD safehouse in rural Wisconsin," Noah yelled back, leaning close so I could hear him. "Away from municipal jurisdiction, away from Ryan’s corrupt local connections, and close to the secondary servers we seized from his primary shell company."
"And my other daughter?" My voice broke, tears finally hot on my cheeks. "Ryan has her. He gave her to that woman... to his real wife. How do we even find them?"
Noah’s jaw tightened. He reached into his tactical vest and pulled out a ruggedized military tablet. He tapped the screen, bringing up a complex financial schematic intertwined with geographic location pins.
"When Ryan’s digital vault was mirrored by our cyber team, we didn't just find bank routing numbers," Noah explained, swiping to a high-resolution architectural blueprint. "We found property deeds. Ryan didn't buy just one house in Chicago. He purchased an entire secluded estate on the shores of Lake Geneva under an anonymous trust."
"Lake Geneva? That's only a two-hour drive from here."
"Exactly. And according to satellite thermal imaging we just pulled up, there are currently two adult heat signatures and one infant heat signature inside that main cabin right now." Noah looked straight into my eyes. "Your second daughter is in that house, Emily. And tonight, we're going to bring her home."
An hour later, the helicopter touched down smoothly in a dense, heavily wooded clearing surrounded by towering pines. The rain had cleared, leaving a crisp, biting autumn chill in the air.
Two armed military operatives in unmarked tactical gear were waiting for us by a pair of rugged all-terrain vehicles.

"Colonel," the lead operator saluted sharply. "Perimeter is secure. No local patrols within a five-mile radius. But thermal scans show motion-activated security cameras covering the perimeter of the target estate."
Noah nodded, stepping out of the chopper and offering me a steady hand. "Let's move."
