Chapter 7 - The Confrontation in the Nursery"Who... who are you?" the woman gasped, scrambling backward out of the rocking chair, clutching the baby tightly to her chest.

"My name is Emily," I said, my voice shaking with a potent mix of grief, rage, and overwhelming love. "And you are holding my daughter."
"Your daughter?" She let out a hysterical, defensive laugh, tears springing to her eyes. "Are you out of your mind? This is Chloe! Ryan and I have been married for six years! She is our legal child!"
"Look at her face," Noah stepped into the light behind me, his federal badge gleaming in the soft nursery lamps. He didn't draw his weapon, but his presence commanded total submission. "Look at the baby in Mrs. Collins's arms. They are identical twins, born fourteen months ago at St. Judeās Memorial Hospital under a falsified medical partition."
The womanāwhose name badge on a nearby diaper bag identified her as Sarah Collinsāstumbled against the crib. "No... Ryan told me... Ryan told me the second twin didn't survive delivery! He said the hospital botched it!"
"Ryan lied to both of us," I said, stepping closer, holding Lily out slightly so Sarah could see the undeniable facial symmetry between the two infants. "He built an entire empire of lies, using shell companies, stolen government funds, and forged marriage certificates to traffic our children and keep us both completely isolated."
Sarah stared back and forth between Lily and the baby in her arms. The undeniable truth shattered her denial. Her knees gave out, and she sank slowly onto the carpet, weeping uncontrollably.
"He... he told me we had to move out here because of 'sensitive government audits'," Sarah sobbed, burying her face in her hands. "He said if anyone found out about our family, we would lose everything. He kept threatening me..."
Before anyone could say another word, the heavy front entrance door slammed open downstairs.
Heavy, hurried footsteps echoed up the grand staircase.
"Sarah! Sarah, grab the go-bags!" Ryanās voice boomed through the hallway, frantic and desperate. "The federal freeze hit our Cayman accounts! We have to runā"
Ryan burst into the nursery doorway.

He stopped dead in his tracks.
His eyes locked onto Noah standing by the door, then onto me, and finally onto Sarah sitting on the floor with the second twin in her arms.
