Chapter 9 - The Family ReunitedDawn broke over Lake Geneva, painting the sky in breathtaking shades of amber, gold, and soft violet.

The estate was quiet now. Federal forensics teams and investigators were cataloging documents downstairs, loading boxes of evidence into secure vans. Ryan Collins was already miles away, locked inside a high-security federal holding facility awaiting arraignment.
In the sunlit living room overlooking the peaceful lake, Sarah and I sat on the plush velvet sofa. The air between us was heavy with complicated emotions, but in the center of the cushions, something miraculous was happening.
Lily and her twin sister—whom Sarah had named Maya—were sitting face-to-face on a soft baby blanket, giggling as they shared the very same stuffed rabbit Noah had recovered on the airplane.
"I’m so sorry, Emily," Sarah whispered, wiping a tear from her cheek. "I truly believed I was his only wife. He was gone for months at a time on 'classified contracts'. I never knew..."
"I know," I replied softly, placing a comforting hand over hers. "He lied to both of us. He played us against each other to cover his crimes. But our daughters are safe now. That’s all that matters."
Sarah nodded, a fragile, genuine smile touching her lips. "Agent Vance said federal protective custody will cover both of us and the girls until the trial concludes. After that... we start over."
From the doorway, Noah watched us quietly. He had traded his tactical vest for a clean black jacket, looking every bit the protector, but his expression was remarkably warm.
I stood up and walked over to him.

"Thank you, Noah," I said softly, my voice thick with emotion. "If you hadn't asked me to lean on your shoulder on that plane... if you hadn't stood by me when the world was crashing down... I never would have found Maya. I never would have known the truth."
Noah smiled, reaching out to gently brush a stray lock of hair from my forehead. "You didn't need my help to be strong, Emily. You fought for your daughter every step of the way. I was just lucky enough to be the guy sitting next to you when your story finally changed."
