Chapter 4 - The Confession of the EliteThe restaurant was a theater of ghosts. Powerful men and elite socialites who usually controlled the social and financial pulses of Bellhaven sat frozen, realizing that their entire world rested on a knife-edge controlled by the man standing before them.

Mr. Salvatore, the manager, fell to his knees near Matteo’s polished Italian leather shoes.
"Mr. Ricci! Please!" Salvatore wept, pressing his palms together. "I didn't know! If I had known Mrs. Ricci was working here, I would have treated her like royalty! It was Miss Monroe! She did it! She’s the one who threw the drink!"
Tiffany’s face drained of all color. She whipped her head toward Salvatore with betrayal written across her features. "You cowardly piece of trash! You let me do it! You laughed along with us!"
"Shut your mouth, you little fool!" Salvatore snarled, his voice cracking with panic. "Do you have any idea who you just targeted? That’s Matteo Ricci! He owns the port authority, the shipping lanes, the banks that fund your father's development projects! We are ruined because of your stupid TikTok video!"
Brandon Pierce, still pinned against the splintered table by Matteo’s bodyguard, began to sob quietly, the air whistling through his tight throat. "Mr. Ricci... please. My father... my father will pay whatever you want. Name your price. Ten thousand? A hundred thousand?"
Matteo looked down at Brandon with a look of profound pity and disgust.
"Money?" Matteo asked quietly. "You think this is about money?"
He signaled with two fingers.
Two more men in charcoal suits stepped through the front doors, carrying a heavy, locked steel briefcase and a thick stack of legal documents. They placed the briefcase on the table right beside Brandon’s head and popped the latches.
Inside were not stacks of cash, but printed copies of federal indictments, land deed transfers, and financial audit reports stamped with red confidential seals.
"This," Matteo said, running a finger along the edge of the briefcase, "is every illegal zoning bribe, tax evasion scheme, and offshore shell corporation your father has accumulated over the last fifteen years. Your family didn't just build a fortune, Brandon. You built a prison. And today, I am locking the doors."
Eleanor walked slowly up to the table. She looked down at Tiffany, who was now trembling so violently she could barely hold herself upright.
"You asked me if I needed a diet and a towel," Eleanor said, her voice calm and steady. "Let me ask you something, Tiffany. Do you know what happens when you kick a hornets' nest?"
May you like
Tiffany could only shake her head, tears streaming down her freshly made-up cheeks, ruining her mascara.
"You get stung," Eleanor whispered. "And in this city, there is no escape from the swarm."
