Chapter 5 - The Ultimate Extortion

Viral Title: TWIST OF THE CENTURY! The Long-Lost Wife Returns, But She Isn't Seeking Love... She Wants Blood! 🩸😱Arthur stood paralyzed in the ruined hall, the rain pouring down through the collapsed ceiling, soaking them all. The truth was out. The noble, grieving billionaire Arthur Vance was a fraud, a monster who had attempted family annihilation for profit.
"So what now?" Arthur asked, his voice suddenly hollow, stripped of all power. "You kill me? You take the vault money and run? The police know Julianna is dead. They will look for you."
"Oh, the police won't look for us, Arthur," Anna laughed, a chilling, musical sound. "They will look for you. Who do you think pushed Julianna? We have security footage from a hidden camera showing you entering the room right before she fell. Victor is very good with digital editing."
Arthur realized the trap had been snapping shut around him for months. The little girl begging at his ballroom door wasn't a random miracle; it was the execution of a flawless, long-term psychological operation.
"Hope," Arthur said, turning his desperate gaze to the child. "You're my blood. I loved you these past few weeks. Everything I gave you, the affection... it was real. You can't let them do this."
Hope stood up from the piano bench. She walked over to her mother, taking Anna's hand. She looked at Arthur with no anger, no hatred—just a terrifying emptiness.
"The man who loved me these past few weeks was very nice," Hope said softly. "But he was a character. The real you is the man who left my crib to burn. Mama taught me that lesson every day. Every time I got hungry, she reminded me why we were eating scraps."
Victor pulled a document from his coat. "Sign it, Arthur. Total transfer of all offshore assets, Vance Enterprises shares, and properties to a trust fund in Hope's name, managed by her legal guardian... Evelyn Carter. Sign it, and we let you live. You can flee the country before the murder warrant for Julianna is issued."
Arthur looked at the pen and paper. He looked at the gun. He knew he was defeated. His reputation, his wealth, his life—everything was gone. With shaking hands, he leaned over the white piano and signed his name, signing away his empire.
"There," Arthur whispered, dropping the pen. "It's yours. All of it. Now let me go."
Anna smiled, stepping forward to take the papers. "Thank you, Arthur. For everything."
She nodded to Victor.
POP.
A silenced gunshot cracked through the sound of the thunder. Arthur gasped, looking down at his chest. blood began to bloom across his white shirt. He fell to his knees, staring at Anna in shock.
"You... you said you'd let me live..." he choked out.
"I lied," Anna whispered, leaning down. "Just like you did."

Victor grabbed Anna and Hope. "We need to go. The timer is set."
As they sprinted out of the ruins, leaving Arthur bleeding out on the floor, a soft ticking sound began to emanate from the back of the upright piano.
