The rain had washed the city clean, but the financial district was already boiling with rumors by noon. Inside the obsidian-glass skyscraper downtown, the emergency board meeting called by Vivienne’s father, Senator Vance, was scheduled to begin in ten minutes.
Ronan stepped out of his private elevator with astride that commanded immediate deference. Viktor flanked his left, and behind them walked Ivy—not in a maid’s uniform, but in a razor-sharp, charcoal-pinstripe pantsuit that matched the cold, calculating precision in her eyes.
As the mahogany double doors of the boardroom swung open, the murmurs of the city's most elite investors died instantly.
Senator Vance sat at the head of the long glass table, his face flushed with vindictive triumph. "It's about time, Blackwood. You think you can humiliate my family and walk away scot-free?"
