Chapter 3 - The Boardroom AmbushBy 8:00 AM the next morning, the financial district of the city was buzzing with unprecedented chaos.

Richard had spent the entire night frantically calling his board members, investors, and banking contacts, expecting them to rally around their golden boy. Instead, every single phone call went straight to voicemail, or worse, was met with icy hostility.
When Richard strode through the glass doors of the Thorne Enterprises corporate headquarters, his face a mask of desperate fury, security guards stepped directly into his path.
“Mr. Whitman,” the head of security said, his voice entirely devoid of the usual deference. “Your badge has been deactivated. You are instructed not to cross these turnstiles.”
“Have you all lost your minds?!” Richard shouted, drawing the shocked stares of dozens of junior executives and assistants walking through the lobby. “I am the managing director! I call the shots here! Get me the board chairman right now!”
“You’re looking for me, Richard.”
The crisp, confident voice cut through the lobby noise. I stepped out of the private executive elevator accompanied by Marcus Vance and two senior board members who had served under my father for decades. I was wearing a commanding ivory blazer, dark sunglasses, and carrying a leather portfolio.
Richard’s jaw dropped. He stared at me as if I were a ghost. “Amanda… what is the meaning of this? Have you gone completely insane? You’re destroying the company from the inside out!”
“I am saving it,” I corrected sharply, stopping a few feet away from him. “For five years, you manipulated financial statements, skimmed operational funds to support your secret lifestyle with Brooke, and treated the staff—and my son—like disposable trash. Did you really think my father didn’t build safety clauses into the corporate charter?”
Marcus stepped forward, flipping open a folder and reading aloud to the gathered employees who had stopped to watch the spectacle.
“Effective immediately, Richard Whitman is stripped of all executive powers, board voting rights, and company-issued vehicles due to gross breach of fiduciary duty, embezzlement of corporate funds for personal maintenance of a secondary household, and falsification of asset ownership.”
Murmurs erupted through the lobby. Phones were whipped out instantly; cameras flashed from across the street as paparazzi—tipped off by my legal team—captured every agonizing second of Richard’s public humiliation.
Richard lunged forward, his face purple with rage. “You bitch! You planned this! You set me up!”

Before he could take another step, two corporate security officers grabbed him by both arms, pinning him firmly in place.
“Don't make a scene, Richard,” I whispered, stepping close enough for only him to hear. “This is just act one. Pick up your cardboard box from HR by noon, or I’ll have you thrown in jail for corporate fraud.”
