Chapter 3 – The Chase That Was Meant to Fail

Daniel sprinted across the crowded station, weaving through frightened passengers as Rex charged ahead like a missile.
"Stop! Police!"
The hooded man didn't panic.
He didn't even look back.
Instead, he calmly walked toward Platform Nine as if he had expected this exact moment.
Daniel's instincts screamed that something was wrong.
"He's too calm..."
Rex suddenly barked furiously and accelerated.
The suspect stepped onto an empty train just as the doors began to close.
Daniel lunged forward.
The doors slammed shut inches from his face.
The train slowly pulled away.
For one brief second...
The hooded man looked straight into Daniel's eyes.
Then he raised a small piece of paper against the window.
Three handwritten words.
"Wrong man, Officer."
Before Daniel could react, the train disappeared into the tunnel.
His radio crackled.
"Daniel! Get back here NOW!"
"It's the girl!"
Daniel rushed back to the medical area.
The little girl had become hysterical.
She pointed toward a television screen hanging above the station.
Every passenger looked up.
The screen had suddenly switched from train schedules to a live security camera.
On it...
A young boy, no older than eight, sat tied to a chair inside a dark warehouse.
A digital countdown glowed beside him.
03:59...
03:58...
03:57...
The entire station erupted into panic.
Someone had hacked every screen in the terminal.
Then a distorted voice echoed through the speakers.
"You saved the wrong child."
"If you want the boy alive..."
"Follow the dog."
The transmission instantly cut off.
Everyone stared at Rex.
The German Shepherd was already sniffing the stuffed rabbit the little girl had carried inside the suitcase.
Then, without hesitation...
He bolted toward the station exit.
Daniel didn't wait for orders.
He followed.
Because somehow...
May you like
The criminal wanted Rex to lead the police somewhere.
And that terrified him more than anything.
